A 66ª edição do Grammy, que ocorreu no domingo, 4, estabeleceu um novo marco na carreira de Taylor Swift. Consequentemente, a artista, vencendo na categoria mais cobiçada da noite, “Álbum do Ano“, transformou-se no primeiro artista na história do evento a conquistar quatro vezes esse título, um feito inédito.
Ademais, a premiação destacou-se pelo número sem precedentes de nomeações femininas nas categorias principais. Por exemplo, na categoria de gravação do ano, sete das indicadas eram mulheres: SZA, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Victoria Monét, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, além do trio indie feminino Boygenius, tendo como único homem na disputa o pianista Jon Batiste. Além disso, as mulheres brilharam nas apresentações da cerimônia, com destaque para Joni Mitchell, SZA (que liderou com nove indicações), Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo e Dua Lipa, enquanto que entre os homens se apresentaram Billy Joel, o rapper Travis Scott, o cantor country Luke Combs e o nigeriano Burna Boy.
Por outro lado, a cerimônia superou as expectativas, entregando uma das melhores edições de sua história. Isso se deve, em parte, às apresentações memoráveis de artistas como Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel e Tracy Chapman. Adicionalmente, o evento foi marcado pelo recorde de prêmios concedidos a mulheres e artistas negros, superando as edições anteriores em termos de diversidade e inclusão.
Dessa forma, a cerimônia do Grammy ultrapassou as edições anteriores, consideradas por muitos como monótonas. Em 2022, afetada pelas restrições da Covid, a festa quase não teve destaques. Já em 2023, a grande controvérsia foi a falta de reconhecimento a Beyoncé, a artista mais premiada da história, com 32 troféus, mas nenhum em “Álbum do Ano“. Esse equívoco foi lembrado neste ano por seu marido, Jay Z, em um discurso ao receber o gramofone de impacto global.
